Los Angeles, CA – July 22, 2009 - Kurt Broadhag obtains LEED AP Certification
Kurt Broadhag, President of K Allan Consulting and member of the USGBC, recently passed the LEED AP Certification making his company one of the first accredited design firms in the fitness industry.
“The LEED accreditation opens up yet another door for us to introduce green practices in the fitness industry” said Kurt Broadhag. “It allows us to consult with companies either seeking LEED certification or, on a smaller scale, those merely wishing to adopt green practices set forth by the USGBC. By incorporating these green design elements we hope to foster social responsibility eventually paving the way to a healthier, environmentally conscious fitness industry.”
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system was developed by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council) in an effort to develop high-performance, sustainable buildings. Buildings can earn points in a number of categories including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selections, and indoor environmental quality and design innovation.
“The LEED Professional Accreditation program,” as described by the USGBC literature, “distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED AP’s have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and the LEED rating system.”
K Allan consulting specializes in gym design and management working directly with project managers, designers, architects, and facility owners to create health clubs and fitness centers. Broadhag has personally worked on numerous fitness facility projects including hotels, spas, cruise lines, corporations, educational settings, multi-family hosing complexes, private gyms, and government agencies and has authored articles on gym design and greening the fitness industry.
